Waste
In the process of making our products, there will always be some left over material that doesn't get used. However, we don't want to create more unnecessary waste. Want to know what happens to the left-over materials? Click here.
In some cases we will reuse protective materials from packages we have received for the business(e.g. from suppliers, other makers), to use for your packages.
The waste we can’t reuse (e.g. polymer clay plastic packaging and wraps of shipping labels) is separated, so what can be recycled will be recycled. What can’t be recycled will be dealt with accordingly by the municipality we are located in. This is not only a choice, it is mandatory to do so in the Netherlands.
Materials
Used for marketing
We purchase our materials from certified(1) local stores and suppliers. For example, our marketing products are produced by Dutch companies and/or made in the Netherlands & out of locally sourced recycled materials.
Used for products
Earrings
The earrings are made out of polymer clay, we use a variety of brands. All of the clays we use meet the EU standards(2). Most of the clays we use are vegan. As we manually mix and pigment our clay, we cannot yet state that all of the earrings are 100% vegan. The hardware on our earrings is made of nickel-, lead- and cadmium free stainless steel, tested & approved by our Dutch supplier. Stainless steel gives the earrings a long lifespan.
Scrunchies
All of the fabrics and textile products we use meet the EU standards(3).
Out of our fabrics, 63,6% are certified and come from certified suppliers(1). Simply put, six out of the eleven scrunchie fabrics we have available are certified. Besides that, all of the thread we use is certified and sourced responsibly. As we grow our business we are also working on our sustainability. Our goal is to have at least 80% of our fabrics be certified by the end of 2025. Updates on this will be shared through our newsletter! When a fabric is certified, it can be found it the product description.
When it comes to the pre-loved materials we use, we don't always know the exact origin of the materials, e.g. when we've found them at the thrift store or when they've been donated. However, reusing the materials to create something new on it's own is better for our environment. Lastly, we wash pre-loved fabrics before assembly and use Mother's Earth's* vegan, eco friendly laundry sheets to do so.
Used for packaging & shipping
For packaging we use recycled & recyclable protective paper. The colorful part of your packaging protection is made from 100% biodegradable, certified(1), dust and wood- free shredded paper. Our shipping boxes are made from recycled and responsibly sourced materials too.
We use PostNL for our shipments. Click here to read about their sustainability policy in English. Click here to read about their sustainability policy in Dutch.
Besides that, instead of offering next day delivery, we visit the post office to drop off your packages three times a week. This puts less pressure on the postal service and is more sustainable too. After all, the goal is to make the world a little more beautiful and colorful while creating.

- The fabrics and shipping suppliers we work with hold certificates that indicate whether the product / their products have been tested for toxins and meet responsible sourcing, environmental, and labor standards. However, we are not certified as a business due to the costly and thorough certification process. It's also because, as you've read above, not all of our products meet the required standards yet. As our business grows, we are working towards meeting these goals, but legally cannot use specific certified logos or claims on our website.
